Quark 3D View Question

by Bob "Colonel_Klink" Watt · in Torque Game Engine · 04/15/2004 (3:31 pm) · 13 replies

I have read on the posts here how some people are having problems with Quark's 3d view getting screwed up. Me too!

I have downloaded and installed the glide2x.dll driver, but this doesn't seem to work.
Has anybody been able to remedy the problem?

It's always worked for me. Sorry I can't help.

I've also never had this problem.

What version of QuArK?

I have seen this a lot. I almost always keep the GL view window open and placed over the 3D view as it doesn't seem to suffer from that problem. Occasionally the UV editing view gets screwed up also, but I have found that thiscan be fixed by closing the GL view, then switching back the the texturing panel.

I'm using Quark 6.4 alpha

I have the same problem but have learned to live with it.

I guess that seeing the option to use the 3dfx card with glide drivers was there I presumed that it would work.

Do you have a 3dfx card with Glide drivers? I didn't think any voodoo cards were still around ;)

Hi Alex. I'm using a Geforce 3 card. I presumed 3dfx meant e
any 3d capable card. My bad I guess.

You don't need the glide drivers for an nVidia card. That could definitely be the issue. :)

Hmm. Thanks Joe. So this means one has to put up with the screwed up 3d view in Quark?

Use the OpenGL view window, thats what I suggest. Telling it to render normal viewports with openGL doesn't seem to work, but the floating window does.

I haven't seen this problem at all. I've even been able to use 3D viewports, in addition to the 3D and 3D OpenGL windows, without any issues. I just use QuArK "out of the box" and configure it for Torque as documented on this site. My video card is a GeForce FX5900, but I've had it working with a GeForce 4 Ti4600 as well.

Try the OpenGL window as Alex said. Your video card should be able to handle it.

Thanks guys, that appears to work ok.
