Yeah I saw this when it was posted on gamedev.net and thought "Cool shit". Then I ran it and saw the memory consumption go up to 200+ Mb. Their compression method is by far the best I've seen. Two thumbs up from me since I'm a tech junkie.
When it showed it to some non-programmer type friends they thought it sucked though. They thought it was low res, low definition and low quality overall. They also thought the gameplay sucked. I kept rambling on about it being 96 kilobytes! All they said was: "Who cares if it's small. Most people won't mind downloading larger games. They could have taken the time they took to make it small and spent it making it good instead.". Speaking from a non-technical standpoint I have to agree, it's not that impressive. It's just small. It really lacks that non-technical edge their other demos/intros/invites have had and this time they've labeled it a game. This is a great example of the fact that games require a lot more than just technical excellence.
