Newless Cluebie joining the ranks!

A few friends and I have decided to start playing around with creating our own game. After searching high and low and looking all over the place, I have to say Torque seems to be the perfect fit. Not too expensive and it looks damn good...

Anyway back to my original intent. Being that I'm not only new to the Torque engine, but I'm new to C++, does anyone have any suggestions to get me off the ground? I know there's great docs on the site, but if there's any books or utilities that are "must haves" I'll happily fire up Amazon.com :)

Is the fact that I'm new to C++ gonna be an insurmountable hurdle?

I've also seen an awful lot of chatter on the boards about Torque 2.0? Can anyone give a bit more detail on what's going on with the new engine? Is it going to be an all in one product? Will there be a cheaper upgrade path for those of us that purchased 1.2? How soon is 2.0 coming out? Any info would be appreciated.

Another question is about the networking code. Is the 128 player connection a hard limit or have folks worked around that? How about Integrated voice chat in a game?

I'm sure there will be more questions as I dig deeper into the site, forums and docs.

Thanks in Advance!

The official Torque Getting Started reference as well as the Documentation are of course invaluable. However, this here is a collection of resources which provide an extremely solid base to start from.
