Looks like old news on the Quark site but there seems to be linux install instructions in the latest alpha, someone wanna check it out?

Full release of QuArK 6.4.0 alpha 3
Peter has made a full release through the SourceForge Release System of QuArK 6.4.0 alpha 3 (dated 2004-01-16). Some of the items and features covered by this release are:
Three new shapes added to Basic Polyhedrons and standardization of all the Basic shape sizes and labeling for easy use with one another.
Instructions for installing QuArK on GNU/Linux.
New HotKey (Alt-D) and Selection menu function, Make Detail for setting multiple poly and face texture flag to detail and related Infobase update.
Numerous improvements and corrections by SilverPaladin (see NEWS.txt file included).
Removed reliance on external string library (QuArK now uses Python's built-in string library directly).
Python 1.5 no longer supported: QuArK now only works with Python 2.0 or higher.
Added 'Grid scale in 2D views' feature to Options menu. By activating the sub-menu items they will place the current grid setting numbers on that particular view and will increase or decrease as you zoom in and out.
The latest up dated Infobase (also included in release) and the source code can be downloaded seperately from the same link above.

I tried running it under Wine with limited success. I did not know there were instructions however. Has anyone had success with this?

I ended up buying a Win2K machine and a KVM to use Quark. Haven't got it yet, but I figure it should be more stable than using Wine.

I had quark working on one buld of wine, but then I got a more recent build and it didn't work. I use vnc now and run wine on an old Win98SE box, but put the desktop on my linux box via VNC.

It works pretty good, although there are a few times you need to wait for updates. At this point it works well enough for me and the windoze box is close so I can slap it up the side of its head if I need to.

I think I grabbed delphi for linux too and tried building quark under linux, but I didn't get too far. It might be an option, especially if you're a delphi hack, which I'm not.

There was some talk I saw on the quark home page or their yahoo group about porting wine to C/C++ to allow for higher portability and more developers. Its possible that at some time in the future quark will run under linux natively. I wouldn't hold your breath though as the quark developers seem to release infrequently and as far as I know aren't working on porting to C++ yet.
