Kids / Pre Teen Game Idea

You play as a young genius (kinda like Dexter from Dexter's Lab) with a lab in a hidden area of your house.
One day you are building some kind of communication system to broadcast to the outer reaches of space. When assembling it and testing you crossed up the wires and instead you pick up a message from space, with some coordinates. Looking up the coordinates on your super computer you zoom in on the world map. "HEY THATS MY HOUSE" you shout. Quickly you rush to your room and convert it into a battle station. Night and day you sit and listen to your radio and watch and wait for clues of the coming attack.
Gameplay:
Alien Ships will appear above your house in the sky dropping bombs and using various weapons of mass destruction on you and your fellow neighbors. Your job is to protect your house and your fellow neighbors. (A la asteriods)
Saving fellow neighbors could bring thanks of scrap parts or items to upgrade your weapons or build new weapon stations onto your house. Saving fellow neighbors could also allow them to join your side in battle and man one of the extra stations you have.
If your house is destory game over..

Just a neat idea I thought of, would need to sit down and flesh it out. (just on my lunch break at my day job heheh)
