is v12 going to be compatable with beos?

I was still wondering if v12 is still going to be built for the now wonderfull dying OS. I would love v12 to be the game engine to make beos become a great platform.

I someone wants to port it, that would be awesome. I don't think we're going to spend any time on it though. Too bad really, I sort of liked BeOS.

would there be any royalty opertunites for porting to another system? or would you just be able to have one more choice in this world?

I did some programming on BeOS a while back and really liked it. But like you said it is a dying OS so I think you'd agree our time is better spent else where -- at least for now ;)--Rick

You are right though it is fairly low on the priorty list.

This thread was mainly a call out to see if there was any interest in helping Beos become somthing more than what it is now. With some work you could even transform BeOS into a great gameing OS.You are right though it is fairly low on the priorty list.

I'd personally like to see it available, and would consider helping to make it available, but I currently don't think it's worthwhile. There are some efforts going on to get an updated version of the OS out. If something pans out and we get a swanky version w/OGL, I wouldn't mind helping with the port at all.

Did any of you run into the "cannot find a suitable hardrive to mount" error installing the BeOS ? If so did you get it resolved?

Do you have any BFS partitions on your HD or at least some free space for one? DriveSetup (Be's drive management program) will let you repartition your hard drives, but you might need to run it from an installation of the OS. Try installing PE into a partition-in-a-file and then restructuring your hard drive as necessary. A nice feature is you can run the install tool from the fake partition and it will copy any apps and settings you have to the new one. If you have any other questions about Be, feel free to e-mail me as any more discussion would be quite OT for this board.
