Help Needed

Hi,

Hoping that I might be able to gain some knowledge, although slightly worried that I'm going to come across as a babbling moron.

Always been interested in programming, although haven't done much recently; more importanly I have an obsession with videogames and am lucky enough (depending on how you see it) to be a videogame journo - hence my addiction is nicely fed.

Heard a lot about Torque, and decided to break up the wallet and see if I could rekindle some of my old programming knowledge and my love of videogames to create some games that I want to play; getting quite bored of all the war titles out there...

My question is more of a plea, to see whether anyone could direct me to a few helpful links to get me off the ground; I've got the Demo up and running and have messed around with the in-game editors, however taking one look at the actual engine is scaring me.

I have an ambitious game concept that I've been working on for a few years, and feel that Torque can handle it excellently as long as I can get my head down for some serious work ahead, am I right in assuming that I can easily handle scripted events in Torque based on an over-arching timeline, in which the player has to interact and make branching decisions?

Any help from the most dumbest getting started would be extremely appreciated; told you I was gonna go on like a babbling moron...

Take a look at this thread. It turned into an extremely valuable "Getting Started" resource. It also includes some great links from Josh that will keep you busy learning for quite some time :)
