Hi all, and thanks for taking the time to read this post.
Game Facts:
Engine: Torque
Type: RPG/Adventure - Singleplayer 3D
Team:
- 3D modeller for mostly everything except characters, animals etc (that's me)
- Muscician x1.5
- Storywriter (he's the .5 part musician too, a real good storywriter)
- Concept Artist
- Torque scripter (me)
You can check out some early concept art, 3d models and a screenshot with some models ingame at www.magikastudios.com/rpg.
Our storywriter just joined, so we don't have a story fully written yet, however, over the 2 next weeks alot of the basics will be down.
On our website we also have forums etc, we're working on it's design and it'll come.
Rough game outline:
The game will consist of 5-6 (or more) islands, a starter island, and an end island, and content islands inbetween. Each island will have it's unique style, one will be the island of Frost, covered with snow and ice, another will be a desert island and so on. We plan on having an island with dark woods and a great looking tree village.
I know this isn't much to go on, but I can promise we have a great storywriter, who's mature and write with both humor and detailed descriptions.
Timeframe, pay etc:
We're estimating somewhere between 5-12 months, depending on how long the story will be. What's grate is the island concept, as finishing one island with quests etc will actually leave us with a strong demo should the game fail to be finished, yet I don't see that happening as we're all dedicated to this project, and if someone leaves there's more people out there to recruit.
The project does not pay a penny, and probably won't either, should the game turn out to be a great one, which is our aim, we can always look for a publisher or publish on garagegames, and from there we'll work out who gets what.
If you decide to join, it's a no pay position you say yes to.
Will I need the Torque SDK to join?
No, not really, unless you're one of the programmers doing engine work.
What positions are available?
SoundFX - You'll do sounds like sword fighting, monster sounds, birds who sing, water and so on...
Programmer - You'll mainly be doing stuff like inventories, shopping, character creation screens, quest system and so on. We're also looking to extend certain parts of the engine, but you do not have to sign up for engine work. You will need to be familiar with the Torque engine and how it works however.
Level designer - You'll be building our islands, from bottom up, and help placing objects around the world.
2D artist - You'll be doing textures, GUI art and other 2d graphics.
3D Character Modeller/Animator - You'll be concentrating on characters and monsters mainly, this alone is alot of work. We're looking for characters in the 1000-2500 poly range, we're aiming higher than the characters with only 500 polys.
If you are interested, come by our channel on IRC, server: Efnet, channel: MSRPG or send an email to Lars@MagikaStudios.comS5P5A5M without S5P5A5M.
Sincerely,
Lars

Team:
- Concept Artist x2
- Storywriter (finally)
- 3D modeller, except characters/animations
- Musician
- SoundFX
- Custard, our fanboi :-)
People who are evaluating a position:
- Programmer
- Another musician
Key positions not yet filled at this point is:
- Programmer who knows Torque, or can get into it quick.
- Level designer, who knows Torque or Terragen well.
- 2D artist for 3D model Textures mainly, but also at a later point GUI work and other art/concept art
- 3D character modellerer and animator
Just a notice to people thinking about applying for a position:
- We will not supply you with warez software so you can work with what you are suppose to do.
- A programmer should have access to the Torque SDK, period.
- You need to be able to devote time to this project, once a week, or a forum post now and then, or saying hello in IRC every friday won't do. This doesn't mean you need to constantly hang out in IRC, we just want to regulary hear from you one way or another.
We're a mature team, of now 6 people, very dedicated and skilled, and we all hope you'll evaluate either of the positions we have available, and we're especially looking to fill that programmer position as fast as possible. If you'd like to join for torque scripting, and that only, go ahead! Also people with AI knowledge is welcome to apply.
