I would like to know how to go about writing an exporter? I am using Blender and I love the DTS exporter, but (there's always a but) I need terrain and DIF exporters. Valve Hammer and the Terrain editor just don't cut it. Please help

Theguy: I haven't a clue what you're talking about. If you don't like the ingame editor, the best you'll be able to do is make a heightmap bitmap and import it (again, through the editor).
QuArK is the way to go on making DIF, as it's more versatile and no license restrictions.

I've tried to use the in game editor using a bitmap as a height map but I could never get the editor to find my file.

Try putting your 256x256 heightmap graphic in *\common\editor\heightscripts then load it via the "bitmap" option in the terrain editor.

I can't seem to get the terraform editor to see my file. Does it matter that I'm on OS X 10.2
