Dts format

The author of Fragmotion is willing to look into adding direct dts support, but needs info on the format. What files would he need? Is there any dts format info that is _not_ part of the SDK, and therefore legally passed out? I hate asking someone to support us, but oh by the way there's a $100 cost in order to do so.

Also, i think sven writ a document on the dts format... not sure where that is though.
Another option is the lightwave exporter on gnometech. I think they have some source for it for download.

Try looking at the blender exporter. It has all the code in to read a dts (in python), and i think even non sdk owners can download it.Also, i think sven writ a document on the dts format... not sure where that is though.

You could take a look at the LightWave DTS exporter code over at www.gnometech.com. It was originally built on the DTSSDK that is available in Torque, and as GarageGames gave their blessing for me to release it, I don't see why anyone couldn't use it as a reference for another product.
The source code is for an older version of the LightWave exporter but it would allow you to save out the essential stuff. There's also a lot of LightWave glue code in there you'd need to wade through.
I'd recommend that you take a look at James' python code. He wrote it from scratch based on the Torque TS code (from what I understand) and as it's python code you automatically have the source.
But, to answer your original question: I'm not aware of any DTS/DSQ recipe document that spells everything out. All us exporter writers just chipped away at it one piece at a time based on the TGE code.

I have to agree with Erik on this. We may lose some good tools. Maybe there is some kind of package they could put together for developers.
But if I was making a program like Fragmotion and had a community like GarageGames interested, I would spend $100 in hope to make several thousand of dollars.

He needs to contact Josh Williams directly via email to discuss it -he's the Director of Third Party Development for GarageGames.I have to agree with Erik on this. We may lose some good tools. Maybe there is some kind of package they could put together for developers.

But those are just rumors. :)
Meanwhile, this thread is over a year old, and I tend to agree with Mark from a business perspective. For the Fragmotion guy, he'd have to sell less than ten copies of his tool to justify buying Torque...

I have heard rumors that if you have a really cool tool, sometimes you can get a free copy of Torque if you are willing to make it work with Torque and you ask Josh very very nicely...But those are just rumors. :)

I know that it is a year old...LOL. But I got a response from the GG side! :)They are currently on fragmotion forum talking to the author asking if he got a reply from GG. This was the only thread on GG talking about this program. He seems to have his hands full trying to get out what he has. He just put out an sdk for it to make plugins. Hopefully someone will make an exporter for it. Link: http://www.fragmosoft.com/
