Vehicle question.

by Sam Guffey · in Torque Game Engine · 03/12/2004 (8:53 pm) · 3 replies

I have implemented true Torque and Horsepower into the wheeled vehicles, however theres something fowl. My currect car generates a little over 400 ft-lbs of torque at 5100 rpms but Im just barely moving. Takes nearly a minute to get up to 120 MPH.

My question is, how much does the vehicle weight? This is something a GG person would have to know.

Heres the method..

Weight = mass * gravity;

Mass = 275;
Gravity = ????

Would it be 9.8 as in real world gravity or the -20 declared in the .cc file?

If I go with 9.8 I get a 2600 lb car which sounds about right.

Oh, is mass/gravity being increased as some sort of drag as the vehicle accelerates?

I just ran a 1/4 mile..

With 690 HP I ran...

Time = 14.02
Speed = 114.707

That sums up to about 185hp based on current charts. Uggg Im such a newb.

Sam,

Gravity in torque is -20, since its going down, not upwards. -9.8 was apparently not good enough :)
Though projectiles seem to use 9.8 in their calc's...

So would I figure it up as "mass * -20" or "mass * 20"?
