Gorpe Getting Started?

by Jorge Luis Gandulfo · in Torque Game Engine · 03/04/2004 (7:54 am) · 6 replies

I have gorpe compiled and running.

But im pretty lost, as there is no documentation about the features.

And the demo dont show any of the features that gorpe offers.

So there is any doc? or any demo that shows more about gorpe?

Thanks

I'm not sure where GORPE is going or is doing at this point. My project is in need of some of its existing features but I didn't want to lost many of the Torque features that have been implemented (including bug fixes) since October 2003 which is when GORPE merged in the Torque HEAD code. I eventually took Gorpe DR_1_0 and merged it with Torque 1.20, then merged in the changes from Torque 1.21 which is what I'm working from now. As far as documentation there are some brief blurbs in there but nothing substantial. For the most part you'll have to search the forums and poke through the code. I'd recommend doing a "diff" between Torque and GORPE to see what was added. The great majority of code belongs to the TerrainManager.

GORPE is pretty dead, as of my last check on it. It's out of date, and the TerrainManager it implements is severely broken against 1.3. You'd be better off waiting a few months for TSE's new terrain to be released.
