Buildings in torque

I've created a building in 3ds max and finally got it to export as .dts, but it won't show in the the show tool. The problem seems to be my meshes. I basically exploded all the sides to be able to assign different material to each side. I tried making the shape again, exploding only half the sides and the exploded meshes didnot show while the attached meshes are viewable. Do any of you know why this would happen?

I have a couple of theories.
Could be that it's too big for the show tool can you zoom using the show tool? If so, try zooming out. Maybe the camera is in the middle of the building and all you can see in front of you are backfaces... which are invisible.
The other thing might be that the non attached meshes do not have any material info so they're not textured. You might find that the building shows up half textured and half shiney due to the environment mapping. Environment mapping does not show up in the Show tool.
I've added models to missions before with no materials associated and they were very shiney...
