My new tank skin and screenshots

by fett42 · in ThinkTanks · 01/06/2004 (2:31 am) · 7 replies

I decided to make a tank skin with a similar color scheme to that of the UFO skin I posted here yesterday. The gun from the UFO was actually taken from my tank treads that I had already made, I just didn't have a tank to go with them. Here are some screenshots of my new tank and the skins will follow after the screenshots.

Here is one last picture with the tank using green glass instead of pink glass:

Here is the brain jar:

Here is the tank tread. Just copy it 6 times and rename them to 02 - 07.

I posted these two with the UFO but I'll add them since I use them for this tank as well.

Here is the brain:

Here is the green glass:

I noticed when I completely deleted the brainglass.png file from the tanks folder the glass looked green just like that. That is when I was using the brain image there.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the brain jar for the tank works pretty good with the UFO I posted yesterday. It isn't quite as bright and the green matches the UFO better than the brain jar I was using for the UFO before.

Thank you. I need to find an imaging program besides Paint Shop Pro 8 to make skin textures. For the tank skin I just borrowed some textures I found and then distored those textures in various ways and finally put them togther to get the effects I wanted for each part. For those that might not know this, for round images like UFOs I have found the Kaleidoscope effect in Paint Shop Pro 8 to be quite useful.

I might post my map textures later on. I need to install Bryce 3D on this computer. It would be very useful for making textures for a map, especially sky textures.

Those skins are pretty nice Racer445. I figured most people used PhotoShop, I don't have it either. I used to make a lot of things on my old computer with PSP 6. I am getting used to some of the newer things with PSP 8 and also some of the features I didn't use before. I think I will be able to make some completely original skins with PSP 8 now that I have looked over some of the image effects and color effects more.

I decided to make a scrumball to go with my tank. Here is what the scrumball I am using in my game now looks like:

Here is the skin for it. Sorry about the messy looking flag. It kept putting black parts on the flag so I made the green area larger than the old flag.
