My iMac is in for repair (logic board...or something like that).
Anyway, I'm trying to get Think Tanks loaded on my laptop PC and am having difficulties. Hoping somebody can help.
I've downloaded the demo from GarageGames.com and installed, but when launching I keep getting an error message that reads:
"The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Can't get past this.
Also, ideally, I'd like to run the full version (not the demo) and simply use the Registration Code I purchased previously to activate. How can I do that?
Thanks! I'm jonesing for a Think Tanks fix.

How would I find out if my drivers are current and what type of video card is in the machine?
Also, to get the full version on my laptop, is there a way to unlock the demo version using the registration code? Or, do I need to download a full version and then activate it? If the latter, can the full version be downloaded without purchase?
Thanks for the help Joe.

To find out what video card, right click on the desktop, and click on "Properties" and in there, there should be a thing on the top that says "Settings" click on that and look around there. Mine says "Princeton Graphic Systems EO50 on NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600XT.
The "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600XT" part is your graphics card!

What OS are you using? Windows 98? XP? I have 98 SE on my own pc.To find out what video card, right click on the desktop, and click on "Properties" and in there, there should be a thing on the top that says "Settings" click on that and look around there. If you bought it here at GG, and you *can't* see a 'Downloadable Products You Own' section, go here. In the fist section make sure that 'Products' is checked. Submit changes and go back to My Garage and you should clicks away from your full version. :)
Whether or not a Trident laptop video card can handle 3d is out of my area of expertise..

Thanks again for the help Joe, Mark and Racer (and for the comic relief Ben).
Here's an update and recap:
I've downloaded the full version of Think Tanks from the My Garage section (worked perfectly Mark...thanks) and have installed.
Upon launching, I continue to get the following error message:
"The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
I am running Windows 2000 and believe my video card is a Trident Video Accelerator CyberBlade-XP v5.8147-008.22.
Joe had thought I might have a problem with drivers. Anybody know how I would check into possible driver problems?
Thanks again.

I am not sure the card has the 'oomph' to run ThinkTanks.
So, go to:
Start>Settings>ControlsPanels>Diplay
and when that opens, choose the Settings Tab, click the Advanced button.
Choose the Adapter Tab. This will give you more info on the card. Important info would be the memory size.
For the driver, you can click the properties button in this same window, choose the Driver tab, and update to the latest driver you can find.
You can try this one:
www.video-drivers.com/drivers/79/79798.htm and see if that works.

Thanks for giving it a shot Joe. I guess I'll have to wait for my Mac to get back from the shop.

0x00000000..... I get that alot. I will dig for a second and see if I can come up with that. I am pretty sure I know what that means exactly, but I'm not sure. Gimme a while.

I think TT is a bit finicky about video cards. I originally had a 16 MB PCI card in my pc & TT wouldn't run at all. I installed a 32MB AGP card & it's worked fine since. I also tried installing on my mom's machine (pc w/PCI video card) & it wouldn't work on it either. I don't recall the error message I got.MP

Thanks Nate and MP. I can't load a new card because it's a company issued machine. I'll wait anxiously to hear back from you Nate.

Yes, the registration policy for the GarageGames build is called "Family Fair Use". You can install it on machines that you own.
