What happens if you pretty much publish yourself? Like, you dont have GG do it, or some other publisher, instead you handle all that yourselves? Like, you manage everything yourself.. Thats allowed right? Thanks.

K.. thanks much! All i needed to know.. Me and a friend wanna try to get off the ground with some ideas, and we got skills for the work, but not the money, so we're tryin to do this uber-cheap.. :D And if we start making over 500k in revenue, some small commercial license is nothin.. :D

When you have a complete game, do show it to GG... There's no fee involved in having them look at it, and if it's a good game it's very possible they'd want to help you out as much as possible! ;)

Uh, if you do go on your own... you may want to check out http://www.cafepress.com - that's an online sales place that will publish cds for you on an as needed basis... basically, you sign up with them for free, send them a copy of your master cd, upload a few pictures and stuff for the jewel case, and then once they get your cd through snail mail they link that cd to your file, and then anybody in the world can buy via cafepress, with you getting back whatever it is above the base price that you put down for them... the base price is not that high at all, especially if you consider all the work that you would be putting in to it printing off cd covers, folding them, printing covers for the cds, etc...

I read the game publishing FAQs but it's unclear to me how long an evaluation period is. It does state "Note: We hope you can understand that due to the number of submissions we receive, we will not be able to reply individually to every email." So many submission, yet, GG publishes only a handful.
It would be very helpful if GG provided some feedback on how bad the sumitted game sucks, or better yet, a constructive criticism on how to make it work and sellable.

I sumitted my game demo to GG for a review. It's been a week now and still no response or comments about my game, or even if they recieved my request for that matter.I read the game publishing FAQs but it's unclear to me how long an evaluation period is. Are you allowed to publish the game through a different publisher other than GG via the "Indie" Liscence?- Anthony

Yup, you can do anything with what you make with the Indie version, the only stipulation(sp?) is that if you make over XXX amount of cash you have to upgrade to the commerical version of Torque.

I wouldn't suggest using Cafepress to sell your stuff. It is a huge risk in what is your own IP, unless there is some agreement that they have...

Yes... they do have an agreement... basically you send them one cd to clone... and then they destory it at your request if you want the item to stop selling.

Unless of course, you start making more than $500k in revenues - in which case, you'd need to get a commercial license (Not that you'd mind paying that after making that much money self-publishing :-)
