Euro League? How about a U.S. East & West League

by Vashstampede · in ThinkTanks · 12/23/2003 (10:26 am) · 20 replies

All i hear about these Euro leagues, we all know where all the best players are from the USA. So it just make sense for us to have a league of our own. One East and West.

Just a thought let me know what your Americans Think.

I am the most patriotic kid in the country, at least I think so! So this seems like a good idea. What league formation are you thinking? Army, league, event...? If it is a thing where this works I would be proud to be a joint captain with you!

Instead of "deviding" the country, we coud make sectors of the USA all working in unison, but with seperate symbols. West/east/south/ etc. but these would be TOGETHER. We would be able to have meetings like the SA, but you CAN be in a seperate army and still be in the American league...sounds good? Let me know, this could be big!

Be patient, I believe the 2004 TT Olympic Teams will be leagues in and unto themselves... Ben (SA) is still the coordinator, sign up with him and he will assign you to a group within the team. League will be all 6 modes! i.e. TBM, TS, CTF, IBM, IS, and Racing...

Cumon stealth, don't always put YOUR thing in front. This has NOTHING to do with the olympics and Ben failed anyway. Giive it up and let other people do their things too...no offence.

Vash, I've played you on all of your names and was very impressed with your scrumming as big O...you managed to do quite well with some bigger name players on the game. Somehow your other names didn't seem to do as well. Anyways, you would be a valuable scrum asset to Team USA. I'm not sure if you were aware that there already was a U.S. team that had participated in the Olympics. Consider joining, my email is in my profile.

I agree with SteAlth, the TT Olympic teams are leagues unto themselves. The Olympics (which I personally think should be held oftener than annually, but I'm impatient) are the venue through which the international teams play each other.

This would be a good idea if the Olympics weren't already on. It's still neat, but consider jumping onto Team USA before you start anything like this.

That is pathetic!!! team USA Olympics is just that--olympics. this would be a fully functioning union of USA players that would have meetings etc. They could, of course, play in the olympics, but this is SEPERATE. We would have meetings, and trainings, and all that. Ben, I know you want control over this USA stuff, every one likes control, but this is a new thing. Let it up for lost and allow vashtampede to procede with this idea without confusing him further!! Anyway why wait a whole year for the next olympics before having fun!?!?!?! I'm with you vashy...

FYI, team usa, olympic style, got embarassed by our neighbors to the north. Don't assume all the best happens here.

So... "I agree with SteAlth, the TT Olympic teams are leagues unto themselves."

What is so hard about that? The teams could have intra-regional competitions whenever they want. The Olympics is just an annual-semi annual event that is specially designed to set up a clear leader among the various world regions.

I think it would be counter-productive to the Olympics Team USA, and also confusing.

Whatever we say it is ultimately up to vashtampede if he wants to keep going wiyj his good idea or not. Peace?

I would like to look at this like a pro sport, were as u have all these teams but only the best get to go to the Olympics. I dont want to creat confusion for the Americans.

i just thought it would bring some healthy competion and pride to our country men. As the Euro's seem to be a step ahead.

So i'll leave up to ben and stealth if they think it will cause disaray then i will not go forward with this idea.

We need to be united on this one or it will not work.

SteAlth is gone....

You commented on this being somewhat of a prep league for the Olympics. Too confusing. IMHO it should be on hold. It would be an awesome idea, but seeing as the U.S. league already exists.... jump on it. You'd be hugely appreciated.

What in god's name prompts desire for US league?
Internet, globalism, free exchange of ideas, a barrier free world, cultural understanding, no border guards, no xenophobia, no racism, no ignorance, no backs turned facing inward, save for france. who's not sick of asinine flag waving, trumpet blaring, chest thumping patriotism? old white idiots take out pens and draw virtual lines over lakes and rivers and mountains; the bookless think they're doing it for them.

the olympics, fine. national representation? everyone is invited.

but exclusivity?

line 1, the 21st century is calling you.
