Snowball fight!

Well, not literally anyway.

But, I recently began working on a terrain edit for my own personal reasons, basically for another project I'm working on (that I won't disclose yet), and it began to turn out better than I expected. It's my first real edit to anything in TT.

Since I live up in the NorthEast (US) where we've already had 2 realtively big snowfalls, I thought I'd make a terrain that fit with the weather.

I had no plans of releasing it for others to see or use originally, but as I began to work more and more on it, I thought, what the heck, don't be shy.

Here are some pics as it stands right now:

idisk.mac.com/mm2270/Public/images/snow_screen07.jpgNote the nice "driven snow" effect, or, at least that's what I was aiming for.

idisk.mac.com/mm2270/Public/images/snow_screen09.jpgMost of the effects have been modified to fit with the theme. So, your tank's standard issue ammo becomes... snowballs, of course, complete with a nice exploding snowball effect.

idisk.mac.com/mm2270/Public/images/snow_screen03.jpgI even managed to add in some subtle tank treadmarks in the snow. Was Hum|Bot| just through here?

I have more pics, lots more, but I don't want to bog down this page with too many images, so I'll stop there.

I still have a few details I need to work out on some objects, and a better sky than what I currently have, but I'm close to finishing I think.

Any comments, good or bad, will be welcomed.

@UF Zach,

Are you on a PC or Mac? I don't know the exact instructions for a PC, cause I use a Mac, but I'm sure you can find threads in this forum that will tell you how to do it.

If you are on a Mac, find the ThinkTanks application and Control click, or right click with a 2-button mouse, and go to "Show Package Contents" in the context menu that comes up. A window will pop up called "Contents" Just navigate to this location: Resources/Game/Data/ In "Data" you'll see folders that match the ones in my download.

Important! Please back up any files inside the folders first. Just copy them to another location. Then replace the files inside folders like terrains/FTerrain, shapes/tanks, shapes/green etc. with the files from my download. Keep in mind it's not all the files, just certain ones.

The procedure will be basically the same on the PC. All the folders should match. I'm just not sure how to get into the Contents folder.

Look around in the forums, and you'll find the answer.

Hope that helps!

Thats a very well put together pack michael. Nice to see you took the time to do all the extra objects as well particularly the powerup glass.

However.. (after trying it all) the only problem I noticed was when playing scrum. Its very difficult to see the flag on the radar... a white dot on a mostly white background.

Still, great work.

What would be cool, would make it so the trails of the tanks treds would make indents in the snow and later dissapear. i sure this wouldnt be impossible
