Maya to Torque

I know a couple people had been working on Maya exporters. Any news there?
More generally, how can I get animated models from Maya to Torque? I know of stuff like exporting to 3D Studio Max using the fbx file format, or exporting to DirectX file format and then converting to Milkshape using Ultimate Unwrap; I've not actually tried any of that stuff yet, so how well do those methods work?

Milkshape does not support all .dts features. Of particular note: Milkshape cannot have weighted vertices connected to multiple bones. This is a problem if you want to make an organic-looking character. I don't know if there are any additional limitations of that conversion method.
The maya exporter is very high on the list of improvements for Torque.
