Question about licence

by Clayton A. Roy · in Torque Game Engine · 12/09/2003 (2:10 pm) · 4 replies

Hay i have a question about "$100" Per programmer. Do we need to pay the $100 before that person starts work on TGE? or can we do our project, find out who did programming, and then right before the release of the game send GG the rest of the money based on who did programming?

The license is for access to the source code. So anyone who wants access to the source must pay the $100. Anyone who works with the source without having first paid this fee is in violation of the license.

But I am not a lawyer, nor a GG employee, so that's not the final word, just my intepretation.

You pay when you start using the engine.

Remember that programming is only those who have access to the C++ engine code. People can use Torque Script with the already compiled executable (provided to them by a programmer with a license) without owning a license. Artists who use the compiled exporters or built in mission/gui editors to create content for the game also do not require licenses.

But any team members who will have access to the source code must pay when they start using the engine.
