A couple of comment on some of the points outlined below.

The Solo Play is not as robust and 'deep' as we would have liked. The Bots and Single Player game were a late addition to the game that were to make it more 'sellable' to the casual crowd on the ditribution channels. Comments related to single player have been noted.

On the FX

This was a choice on our part to increase the number of machines that the game could run on. Many tanks + lots of FX = bad frame rates. We did not want to incur the development expense or the support costs that would have resulted from a particle system that had extensive Level of Detail support and card profiling. We could have put these in there, but this would have raised the minimum spec machine and decreased the user base (and distribution opportunites).

I have to agree with Flea on this one. The lag issue is becoming more of a factor day by day. Too frequently, any type of gameplay has become more of a search for the server with the least amount of lag than the actual competition itself. Last night alone, more than half the servers were presenting me with 600+ ping ( and my "headquarters" are operating from a cable modem based in Toronto.). This is the worst I've seen it yet.

I know there were much fewer of us in the beginning; but, I'm quite curious as to why the situation is epidemic in nature now.

Come to think of it, there was a Kyle in a medium a few weeks back that kept enaging in a "cirle of death" style play. He was a newbie and couldn't hit a thing except at bumping-up-to-your-tank close. When he attempted to do the bump and shoot you from up close thing, if you keep turning in an oval or the enage driving backwards in a partial figure eight pattern, you can out gun him with ease. He seems to have problems aiming using the turret while in a constant turn.

@Sam, think Kyle might be the author?

@everyone else, especially Joe M. and the Pascal Brothers...

I HATE LAG!!! and was so frustrated over it last week, I was about to call and ask for my money back! I posted a thread about it in the customer service forums recently and Joe said it might have something to do with my ISP.

I use Cox, High Speed Cable. I called and they refreshed my converter, checked my pings, and even sent a technician out to my home to test my connection. There was nothing wrong with my ISP, or my modem. It's definitely an internal issue.

I was scrumming last night in a server of 5 people with no problem. Then Burnsey and Fleabiscuit joined in and I started lagging all to hell! Fortunately, It was right as I was about to call it quits for the night anyways, but still... It's a major problem none the less...

It is not an internal game problem as much as it is just network bandwidth. If the connection cannot support the information being sent, you will get Lag.

An ideal solution would be to have several servers located in various spots around the world so that everyone is close to one and a high speed connection to the server will be better.

At the moment, we do not have enough resources at our disposal to invest in renting out serveral dedicated servers to host the game. In time, we hope to be able to do this.

Oh ok... That would explain it...

Come on folks, lets SELL SELL SELL!!!

We gotta bring in money so that Garage Games can improve the quality of our game!!! If you don't like Lag, sell TT's!!! if each one of us brings in one new TT customer per month, and each of them does the same... We should be able to raise enough money to allow Joe M and the Pascal Bros. to accomplish "our" goals in no time!!!

I personally am going to buy TT's for two of my friends as Christmas gifts...

BTW, Joe, any word on those e-gift certificates???

E-git certificates won't be happening this year. The guys at GarageGames are aware of it, but it is not at the top of the priority list.

Think Tanks is Simple yet Entertaining and this moron obviously doesn't know a thing about scrumming.I do not agree Kyle Nau Who is this bum anyways? Kyle you should not voice your own opinions and try to make them others as a game reviewer you have no creditability in my book. "I tried to have fun and play the game through but it just didn't offer anything exciting enough to entice me to play further or give it more than a passing recommendation. "You didn't try hard enough I hope you read the email I sent you it contains a tasty virus which I think you will enjoy...

The really negative "reviews" of Kyle's review are not making this game look good. Fortunatly he is taking it in good humor:

"The beauty of comments is that the user is free to express him self and feelings to everyone who reads this review I love America!"

I hope the readers have the same attitude...

[edit] heh, I wonder what percentage of the 241 hits on that article are from here? [/edit]

As to me, it's one of the best $20 investment I made. I played tons of hours. I never cared for killer graphic - but I like games which you can play over and over and finding more in it.
THINKTANKS GETS BETTER THE MORE YOU PLAY! IT'S LIKE CHESS - EASY RULES, BUT SO MUCH POSSIBILITIES. Also as the community grows and regulars become more and more skillful, the quality level of the games keep improving! YO REVIEWER, YOU WON'T HEAR MUCH 'BAD GAME' COMMENT AFTER A TEAM SCRUM! EVERYONE'S ALWAYS SAYING 'GOOD GAME'

I noticed Jaytotheizzo posted on that forum, but I've never seen him post here in our forums...

Jay, are you out there???

Okay, I wasn't going to read this review because of the comments here proving to me it'd be a waste of my time. Then you all mentioned comments at the bottom of the review, and I wanted to read those, so I checked into it. As I skimmed his review to get to the bottom, I saw this:

"All talk of "sniping from a distance" is marketing hyperbole because it just doesn't happen."

B.S. He says he played for weeks in the game, and he didn't see any sniping? He didn't do any sniping? I'll tell you why he didn't see any sniping: he was too busy tooling across the open plain in a predictable pattern and heavy tank players like me, LC50, and others nailed his happy butt with our three shot volleys from behind a far hill. He just assumed someone had snuck up behind him.

I'll leave a message, maybe...

Must agree with all my TT brood! This game is the most addictive and best game i've played. What made me buy this game was scrum! I have never played something like scrum before! Coming from playing Quake, Doom, and yes Wolfenstien (2-d version) the whole runing jumping shooting got pretty old. I know they have gotten better and you can jump on veichles and drive them or fly a plane, but there is something about stealing that SCRUM FLAG that is so much more exciting! I have never really gotten hook on game as i did with this one. The online community just keeps growing and more players with different styles continue to make the game more interesting. And although i dont mind games like Everquest, with all their "quest" to get better hit points, they just seem like you gotta put so much effort into them and dont got the time. TT i think is for the lazy, skilled gamer in all of us! Why do i say lazy? Well cause you dont need to read 500 page "how to play the game" manual, so you can just jump right in and right back out without any problems. No need to learn multi-fuction keys or key combinations. After that its just all skill!

ok there i put in my 2 bananas!

Gorrilla!
