Hey, that's a cool idea, some friends and I have talked frequently about making a transformers game, but (there's always a "but") you'd never ever be able to swing getting the license to make a Transformers game, and by licensing the V12 you agree that you won't infringe on anyone's copyrights when making your game. so you're going to have to come up with something just a little different. I suggest making up your own little universe and create a mech/robot type fighting game (Virtual On for the Dreamcast is a good example). You could still generate the Transformers kind of feel, just without the Transformers property.

Good Luck,

The only thing in your way is getting the rights to make the game, and considering the fact that there is realy no true Transformers games out, it might be a fairly easy license to get. I would suggest contacting Hasbro and asking for permission to create a demo for them based on the Transformers product, in order for them to determine if it would be worth their effort to license them over to you.

I am hoping you are basing this on the original Transformers and not the Beast Wars. I personaly think they (Beast Wars) were a low esteemed remake of the originals.

The originals are currently (as far as I know) not in development, but with a good media like your game, you could bring the entire TF Universe back to life! (Mention that to them as well!)

Just be sure to have a good concept going, one that does the name justice as well as making the game enjoyable.

Considering that I've always been into TF, I'd be willing to help you out if you need it!

Best of Luck, Christopher L. Dapo

I propose, MechaMorphaBots.

The Robots "MechaMorph" into Road and Air Vehicles...

Catch line:

"MechaMorphaBots, Robots in masquerade" ;-)

The idea has merit:D. You will have a little trouble getting the license, but if you don't try you won't gain experience on making licensed games. And on a personal note:

The Beast Wars series is ok, but only ok. The original with the Optimus Prime as a semi rig was a lot better. I prefered Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, and Starscreen(even if he was a villian(and forgive my spelling I don't recall how to spell his name right now)).

PS-Go with your idea giving up on your ideas will only end up looking bad on you(so go with your idea even if you have to change from Transformers to your own idea you should still make it).

Hi there,

back in the day when RPGs were on paper with little dice. I made an RPG game loosely based on the transformer universe. I compiled quite comprehensive pile of info. The main thing of it was that it was based on the original idea of the transformers, where they orginally didnt used to transform until they came to earth and had to be able to transform to avoid detection.

You can make your game resemble th transformers as much as you want, remember GoBots. Im sure a GoBot liscience is easy to get than a transformers one. but then you are stuck with the shit goBots name.
did anyone used to watch gobots anyway?

HL and Quake has loads of transformers models made by ppl. it would be easier for them to edit the orginal models they made then converting the Q/HL models into v12 err i mean torque.

hope your project is going well.
