We need more games like RPG Maker 2

by Brian Cobb · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 11/22/2003 (6:38 pm) · 4 replies

I have played this game recently, and though it is confusing, it allowed me to make my own little RPG. It wasn't much, just 3 houses, 2 NPC's and a boss, but it was something Imade. Anyways, just thought I'd share my ideas.

I believe there's something called the RPG Construction Set that's similar, though I don't have it.

Dink Smallwood comes with a scenario maker thing, but it's very confusing.

I assume that there are other RPGs that allow you to make your own scenarios as well.

And I know someone who made some stuff with Click-n-Play. Maybe you can make RPGs with that. Or maybe not. I haven't used it.

The RPG Making market is pretty grim at best... I've done some research... mostly crusty stuff from Pen&Paper guys with a few mad programming skillz.

Torque could support something along the lines of TESCS (Morrowind Editor) with some nice hard work... ;)

There's always Neverwinter Nights. Also, if you are a mac user, you can make games that will run on mac and windows using the Coldstone RPG engine from Ambrosia.

TESCS wasn't that fantastic from what I remember.
