by Lenny Jonjon · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 11/14/2003 (4:46 pm) · 5 replies

This is a comedic adventure game about a man who is always down on his luck. but oneday the magic fairy of death comes to him as he is about to commit suicide and says, Geez my job stinks, i wish i could just give this to somebody. Then suddenly a grin comes across her face and she gives bob all her powers making him the new fairy of death. He must then fullfil all the task the original fairy of death had to.

above is porbably one of many levels of Bob's average life and the players new adventure

it will be 2-d probably 16-bit but im not sure

so does any body have some suggestions?

Does not sound that captivating, anyway adventure games are best in cartoonish 3D. keep up the good work.

There's nothing wrong with it per se. Despite what Filbert said, it's not any worse than alot of the ideas out there.

But you need to have something for Bob to do. It basically sounds the same as everything else. What you have is just part of an idea.

Also, what do you mean by "adventure" game? It sounds like you mean something like King's Quest. If so, 3d graphics would probably be better.

A 3d game would probably be more popular than a 2d game, but you can only do what you have the skills to do. Also, 2d graphics are still pretty common - the dominance of 3d games isn't as great as people make it out to be.

I saw in the help wanted ads that your game is supposed to be like the old MegaMan games.

I say go for it. I doubt that it will sell well as a 2d game, but that's common among indie games. You have to compete with all the new 3d stuff.

However, I think you have to start out with something like that before you can reallistically move up to something with the potential to sell.

That IS a problem. I don't think Playstation and Nintendo have Java JREs.

Also, you have 3 projects listed, and their types are all either 2d or 3d art.

So it looks like you aren't really sure what you want to do. That's fine, but you should probably be joinning a team instead of starting one unless you have a clear goal in mind.
