Shapes/Explosions Question

I was trying to get the default projectile to fire heavy tanks and use area affect explosions. Does this code look right?
defaultProjectile.resource = "game/data/shapes/tanks/tank03.jpg";
defaultExplosion.resource = "game/data/shapes/common/AreaExplosion";
Well anyways, it doesn't work. Little help?
