How many hours a week?
by Jeff Axline · in ThinkTanks · 11/04/2003 (11:11 pm) · 46 replies
How many hours a week does everyone play TT? I must admit I play much more often than I should, though I'm sure others play much more than I do. I may have to throw in the towel to make time for other things in the real world.
My estimate.......10-14 hours.

I'm trying to cut back, but the think tanks patch won't stick to my arm.

Hello. My name is Daimbranage and I have a ThinkTank problem. Anyone have the hotline number for the 12 step program?

But I can quit at any time, honest. I don't have a problem, I really don't. Anyway, It's not my fault: you guys are my co-dependent enablers.
Ever have Think Tank dreams? You really know that you're playing too much then.

I'm probably logging about 1-2 hours a day off and on during the week, then about an hour or so during the weekend. Maybe like 8-12 hours a week total. But I can quit at any time, honest. I don't have a problem, I really don't. Anyway, It's not my fault: you guys are my co-dependent enablers.

I hate it when I do a TT overdose and go to bed with my head swirling... seeing infinite numbers of cartwheels of death, flying power-ups, and hear the soundtrack in my head like a broken records... Then I know I played TOO much.'Some people mentioned 'having a life'; perhaps you can provide me with instructions?'

In the begining I was playing 4-5 hrs at work while I was supposed to be working. Then I would go home and play 2-3 hrs more. Completly out of control! Like Hugobrain I occasionally overdosed and had dreams about playing, my head would swirl after extremely long and intense game sessions, and I would find myself visualizing tanks rolling up and down the hillsides while driving.
Then school started and I went cold turkey for a week, it was ugly. Now I can only play for a few hours a couple time a month due to my new schedule. One weekend recently I played for almost 20 hrs strait because I could and there was nobody to stop me.
Think Tanks is extremely addictive and leads to really bad decisions when it comes to time management. Play at own risk!
Hi my name is MAX and I have a problem. (takes drag off cigarette)
I am addicted to Think Tanks.
I have not played Think Tanks for 3 days. (applause)
No really. Think Tanks is a lot of fun, but the pleasure factor is not that different than playing sports. It's just that fatigue is different, wrist, eyes, shoulders, etc...
The thing that draws you in is that Think Tanks is an extremely fun game which you can play a long time without experiencing physical exhaustion and it's totally convenient to get a game going.

HB, Work, school, Friends, TT's, but most of all, my wife is my life. I play with the sound off. I prefer to listen to my CD's. Nothing like a little Metalica or Rob Zombie as you blow away an opponent or score a goal!!! At least in my opinion :-)... But I have had dreams about TT, some of them being very surreal.
LC50, thanks for sharing that article, I found it to be very interesting. Especially that part that said "scientific surveys, said heavy games players were in fact sociable and not the pathological loners they are often made out to be." but I've never had a problem romantically.
I think 8-12 hours a week is reasonable, but I'm going to cut down to 6-8.
It's good to know that I am not alone. I'm addicted to the community as much as I am the game. YOU ALL ROCK!!!

New challenge: how many friends have each of you encouraged to start playing the game? If you tell 5 friends and they tell 5 friends...someone just needs to start a chain letter I think.

I'm laughing so hard my sides are hurting me! I'm glad to be apart of this G.A.A. meeting. My name is Destroyer, ah I mean Mark, and I too, am hopelessly addicted to ThinkTanks. Considering a game lasts 15 minutes, I play 8 to 16 games a day, I am spending somewhere between 14 to 20 hours a week on this game. I can also report dreams of smoking flying brains from tanks, silver and purple balls, and rocks or trees that jump out in front of me to impeed my progress.
Thanks LC for that article...I guess I would rather be addicted to TT than drugs or alcohol. As far as gamers blaming there habits on social and relationship failures, I'd have to say that that is just an easy excuse for other underlying problems. My wife enjoys her space from time to time as I think most people do. We don't have to be within an arm's length of each other every waking moment away from work to be secure about our relationship.
Great picture Stealth! Where do you find stuff like that? It's a riot!
Ben, if you ever can break yourself away from TT, you should do standup comedy routines! Great post.
Final thought: If it ain't hurting you or the people around you, don't feel guilty, enjoy the release from the hectic, crazy life most of us have to endure!

That wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a life, but I do... This game that I love so much is starting to have a negative effect on it.
I'm only going to play in League competitions for a while. I like the idea of having a scheduled event. It'll help me monitor the amount of time I put into this game.
You'll see me in the forums, but not in the online game fields. At least not for a while. When I do start playing online again, it won't be as much as before. I really need to cut back...
