Bystanders?

I wish there were the ability to watch a game in progress ( and move about the field ) without occupying a tank. That would be really nice in tournament situations. I'm not sure if this has been suggested before or wether this ability is feasable as it would require a greater number of connections. I would just love to watch the 2 on 2 tournament about to launch, but would not want to take up a bot that I would consider to be a part of the game environment to deal with.
