Composer Looking for Work - will work for free

by samusaran311 · in Jobs · 11/20/2013 (3:57 am) · 6 replies

I'm a student at McGill University in Montreal, QC, studying classical composition and I'm looking to get some experience writing music for video games. I am willing to work for free as I am more interested in acquiring experience than making money at the moment. I have experience composing art/classical music, jazz, various forms of rock music, electro-acoustic music, electronica/IDM, ambient music and more. I also am skilled at orchestration, I have experience working with DAWs/audio programs such as Abelton and Logic and I play guitar, electric bass and tenor saxophone. I have a broad knowledge of music history, including video game music history and general video game history (which are passions of mine). I am extremely enthusiastic about working on video game music and serious about producing music of a very high quality. If anyone is interested and wants to hear my music to get an idea of what I can do, I will provide links to some of my electronica/IDM and ambient tracks below. If you'd like to hear more, or if you are interested in recruiting me, please contact me at <mario_lombardi@hotmail.com>

Your music sounds really good Mario. You probably won't have a lot of trouble getting someone to recruit you (I would recruit you, but I doubt any small game I could make would be worth your while.)

Thanks a lot man! And I'm down for any kind of project. Even if it's small. I'd actually prefer smaller projects. Lol. I'm not picky, I'm more eager for an opportunity to gain experience. If you do have any games in the making, I'd be 100% down to collaborate and write some music for it.

My game is extremely early in its developmental stage, meaning it could change drastically around or not work out in the end. Just a fair warning before you agree to anything.

Well in that case, if you reach a point where you feel confident with the production/direction of the game, you know who to contact for music. lol. Let me know anytime you're ready with a solid project and I'll get to work on some music right away. You can email me at <mario_lombardi@hotmail.com>

@samusaran311,

Edit your post and put the links in this form:

That will make links.

Also look here for inspiration for "game" type tracks:

I really like these tracks and have bought a few. It could be a model for selling your own work as well.

Look at the licenses too. That way if you give away free music you can limit the license to a particular project/user. That way if they want more you can charge them for using the music in other games/venues.

I don't have a need for a composer right now, but I would love to see (hear) any new work you produce. I think good composers are hard to find. Myself I am very fond of the Cello Guys.

Welcome to GG if you are new.
