New Torque Demo Progess?

by Trent Reimer · in Technical Issues · 10/18/2003 (9:59 am) · 7 replies

Just wondering how progess is going on the linux version of the new Torque Demo? I tried out the Windows version and the new lighting effects blew me away.

Being much more of a scripter (web programming background) than a compiler I think I'd be happy to work with properly pre-compiled binaries "as-is" and I get the feeling from these forums that I'm not the only one.

I've seen some of John Q's other work and I must say he's the man, really looking forward to this thing when it's done.

What are you asking? The linux version is built off of the same source as the windows version so it should be very similar...

I was under the impression there would be a linux binary like the Windows and Mac binaries on http://garagegames.com/pg/demo.php?id=1

He wants to know why there is no linux torque demo out even though we were told there would be one. I was wondering this too. Any updates from GG?

I tested the linux demo a while ago, I thought john had finished with it. He's not online right now though, let's see what he can tell us later.

Thanks, Xavier.

Note that if you have access to the Torque source, you can build it just fine on Linux, last I checked.

That's true, the 1.2 revision builds perfectly from the sources.

John said the demo will be up when the guys decide to rebuild all the demos using 1.2. So maybe it will be up this week.
