Reg Key Passing
by LC50 · in ThinkTanks · 10/17/2003 (5:59 am) · 51 replies
This morning I came across "CZK" passing out Registration Keys to any Demo who asked for it.
Here's a detail of my screen grab, with reg key partially covered:

Joe and the rest of the BT crew have been so great to us TT regulars; it makes me mad to see their game being given away for free.

Triv responded that he hadn't bought the game. the other (Demo) tank asked "but you are driving a light tank".
Triv responded that he got it for free.
At that point I started fuming, having read the early part of this thread, pushed Dar aside and started chastising Triv for not paying and supporting the programmers and Bravetree, that 20$ wasn't much for such a good game and that they will track his Registration # and his IP# down and come to his house at midnight and drag him out and feed him to the wolves (well, embellishing my rant a bit, but you get the idea).
Triv responded that he did not have a credit card # that would work and that he lived in Finland.
During the end of my tirade CZK appeared briefly in the game (or a sleuth using his name) then left and didn't return.
Hopefully BT will have success at tracking down these bandits who threaten our TT society.

While I was watching dar play a scrum game a player named "Triv" was asked by another had he bought the game (as Triv was in a light tank)Triv responded that he hadn't bought the game. the other (Demo) tank asked "but you are driving a light tank".
Triv responded that he got it for free.

Well one story i hear from Demos, when they ask for the serial number, is that they live in europe and cant buy the game. And ignore them, cause if i paid 20 you'll pay 20. But i still wonder if this is true? Do wanna-be-TT demo to owners really want to buy the game but cant because they live outside the boaders of the US? If so, can there be another way "Foriegners" can purchase the game? If there was, this would help BraveTree sales and stop a Demos reason for asking for a serial Key. As for people living in the US and ASKing for a serial, they are JUST CHEAP A$$E$$. This is not the 1950's, 20 bucks is not worth as much as it used to. i spend 20 easily on gas, food, or hand job(s). If you really want the game just pay the 20. It can even be with the new 20 with the pretty colors. if people steal or give away the serial, they are only hurting themselves, cause you will be hunted down like the rat you are!!! BraveTree spends time, which equals money, into improving this game. If more people start stealing this game for free, Breetree will have to spend more time protecting there game from Crack(ers). Which means less money to spend at the very elite Boobie trap and Go-Go bar. They might also take away some of our freedom from this game to better secure themselves from theives. So The R&D will go more into security and less in gameplay. Which might make more people go back and start playing D&D or getting STD. And Brave tree will see less Double D's. So to the people out there cracking this game STOP BEING A CHEAP A$$!!! Get the 20 !! UPS is hiring!peace

I've begun to notice more demos in other than mediums. Some claim that the ShockWave demo allows them to choose other than a medium. Is this true or are they yanking our chains?

There are too many demos playing tanks other than the medium for it just to be some nutty owners masquerading as demos. Strange stuff...
And I got the shockwave demo, you can only play the medium.

Look at my thread. LC50 and I on a game the other night noticed a demo in a light tank. I fought (DEMO) Steves heavy tank succesfully,(DEMO) ally aka b shows some talent in a light, (DEMO) twister changes from heavy to light on shockwave server 4 (?) and (DEMO) cyclops uses a light tank also. In the past two days, I have seen about 7 demos using tanks other than the medium. I asked one of them how and he said it was free. Then he got ejected and didn't come back. There are too many demos playing tanks other than the medium for it just to be some nutty owners masquerading as demos. Strange stuff...

The RealArcade version of TT allows one to play all the tanks in the demo. We went live on RealArcade last Wednesday. This demo is just like the full game but is time limited (limited to 1 hour).

So why are demos downloading from RealArcade all of a sudden? I've never seen demos in all tanks until very. very recently.

I also purchased the game from Shockwave. Unless something has changed in the last month, the medium tank is the only option in the demo game from Shockwave.

I was present in the game with dar and Triv. He was not bothered by the fact he had a stolen key. He almost seemed boastful. Triv is a good player but I am tempted to avoid games he's in. Unfortunately I don't think that will help. It's a shame that few may ruin it for the rest.I also purchased the game from Shockwave. just my opinion but I liked the Med only for demos. Incentive to buy the game (at least for me it was).
