BraveTree Car Pack Problems

I'm a total newb here, be gental. lol.
I bought the BraveTree Car pack, and I'm using 3dsMac 4.2 and the compiled plug-in max2dts for max 4.
I simply loaded the car.max file that came with the bravetree package, clicked on the carmesh and hit replace, and loaded up my own car body. All the links stay the same, carmesh stays the car mash, but its just a new body.
I go to export, and max just freezes. Now if I don't make any changes, the file exports just fine like its suposed to.
Or if I import the car body, and place it on the suspension, and delete the other car body, it saves fine as well, it just doesn't show up in torque because the car body isn't linked to anything. If I start linking everything up like in the bravetree example, thats when it locks up again on export.
Is there something I'm missing? All I'm changing is polygons, nothing else, so I can't seem to understand whats wrong? I guess my method is off.. Any help would be much apreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like the 'replace' is reaplcing the mesh but not he user properites. The user properties of the carmesh has a bunch of multires setting information that the exporter needs. Copy this info from the existing carmesh and into the new mesh, and tell me if that solves the problem. Hopefully it will.Joe
