Hammer editor maps

by Aaron Marsh · in Torque 3D Beginner · 07/21/2013 (12:30 pm) · 4 replies

Hi,

I know there are various threads about hammer but I believe I'm not allowed to use hammer because of licensing issues correct?

I have already made some maps in hammer for source game mods and would like to use them in my torque fps game. I obviously don't want to remake the whole maps. I cant get to grips with the torque map editor. so What would be the best alternative to hammer that will also let me open my hammer maps and save them to use in torque games?

Thanks

You could try install TorqueConstructor (downloadable for free here, since it is outdated) there you can import .map files, then you can export them to the old .dif Torque format, import them in an old version of Torque3D, there you can select them and export them back to collada... theoretically, but have not tested it myself.

You could use DeleD editor www.delgine.com/ it's an open source level editor I found, similar to what you may be searching for.
But I would suggest to change straight to blender, harder to learn, but you will be more professional in long term.

Hi,Thanks for all the information - I will do all you said and take a look at the editor you found. I have been putting off blender for a while as you said its quite hard to learn :) I think I will be best learning it in the long run - Is it possible to make the whole map in blender? or would this just be for the models used in the map? Thanks

I think there is a limit of about 64 000 polys one model can have, but until this you can model as much as you want, I would suggest to make single models or parts you put together in the editor.

I use 3D World Studio for the maps I use in T3D 1.2 (no .dif support for 3.0). It's good.
