Realtime networking support in Torque 2D

Hi all guys!
I'd like to know if the current version of Torque 2D supports realtime networking. On its page I read that it supports only event based networking, but I found a blog post where a developer argued that it was a feature under development.
Maybe if it's not supported yet I could integrate the code with some third party library like "RakNet", did you have some experience using it?
