Heightmap import questions

I have been trying out T3D and so far it seems like a very capable engine however there are a few things which I am unsure about.

Is it possible to import a heightmap without deleting the existing terrain texture layers and is it possible to import the texture layers without deleting the existing heightmap?

When importing a heightmap the entire terrain block moves depending on where the camera is placed (all objects do), is there a setting somewhere to force it to only update the heightmap and keep it at the same position or do I need to fix it in notepad each time?
