@foulplay
I spent some time on your speedway server today. These are my first impressions.
1) You have found a way to make UFOs fun. Put them on their own server and give them lots of room to go fast. Congratulations.
2) Default weapon: Your current default weapon is Speedy. Speedy is interesting in that it has a long range and a high rate of fire but these attributes accent rather than compliment the speed of the UFOs. If you haven't already tried it, let me suggest AreaEffect instead. AreaEffect's slow velocity and large effect would put the onus of success on the skills of the pursued rather than upon those of the pursuer while still requireing a modicum of tactical savvy on the part of the pursuer to generate an optimum intercept.
3) Team vs Individual Play: As much as I prefer TEAM SCRUM in general I think that indivdual play on Speedway would create more interaction. The high speed and long ranges would tend to hinder pile-ups at the goal that are an annoyance to so may in SCRUM. That plus the UFO's vulnerablity to AreaEffect (see #2 above) would likely prevent the event entirely. Individual play, due to the naturally greater percentage of opponents, would tend to favor more skilled players. In my short stint today - in two partial games I scored more than half my teams points in the first and 80% of all points in the second; and you know that Granpa Sluggy is not reknowned for his scoring ability.
