Need help with Heightmap

Not sure if this belongs here.

Just bought Torque 3D having almost no knowledge of how game development works.
I just figured out about heightmaps and such, any tutorials on how they work EXACTLY.

Or like a generator?

It's a bit confusing.

I just want to generate a very large map with plains, mountains & surfaces where I can build towns.
I bought conifers forest pack and want to go to town with it but don't know where to start.

How would I go about doing this?

I'm having a blast with this btw :)


Also how does the forest editor work exactly? I want to get it working with conifers forest pack but it says something about a missing brush.

I know I'm a complete noob, I'm currently going through the FPS tutorial and reading references.

I'm about to start a written guide to creating terrains for T3D that should be ready within the next couple of days, so if you're patient that may help you.

As for the forest editor. I believe that is covered admirably in the T3D documentation provided.

u will get some tutorial on terrain geneartion for torque in l3dt.
