If you want my IP rights for a product, you're going to have to give me something in exchange.

That *is* pretty restrictive - I hadn't noticed that. It's almost a *disincentive*. More reasonable would be to invoke a clause like that for winning entries, but not for *all* entries. It will be interesting to see if that catch draws much fire from the developer community. If you want my IP rights for a product, you're going to have to give me something in exchange.

This kills that stone dead.
Despite $25,000 not being a bad amount of money. Most of us wouldn't sell a completed project (assuming they actually complete) for $25,000 let alone for a CHANCE at $25k. I guess most won't ever earn that, but the vast majority will have cost more than that in our time to produce.
Tell you what, anyone with a decent completed game come to me and i'll "buy it" for a >chance< at $100,000 :) Hell make that a million... :)

This is entirely the kind of thing the people at GG having been trying to get everyone to move away from. Building a game is all well and nice, building a brand is where the real potential is.This kills that stone dead.

As an exercise I would like everyone reading this to do the following:
1 - figure out the number of months you been working on your project.
2 - figure out how much you get paid at your real job in a month (before taxes).
3 - multiply the numbers together (assuming you work 40 hours on your project).
4 - have a coworker or family member pick you up off the floor (this is assuming you too almost passed out seeing the amount of money and time you've invested).
I don't know about you, but I should have just held a dozen of these contests and then spent the past few years at the beach or something. :)
Seriously there's no fun in being given a game, the fun is creating it. My point is that these guys are going to walk away with hundreds of ideas and demos for only $25K, not bad.
John.

You mean all I have to do is kick up 25g's and hundreds of people will GIVE me ownership of their ideas and hard work???As an exercise I would like everyone reading this to do the following:
