Alt+L ???

by Luca Deriu · in Torque Game Engine · 09/25/2003 (12:20 pm) · 6 replies

Hi, it's me again...

I've got a little problem:My 3D objects does not cast shadows on the terrain.

I've builded a simple box in 3DsMAX 5 and exported it as dts (Shapes tree) but I didn't understand why so I've builded a simple room using QuArK and exported/imported as .map file (Interiors tree) but again, nothing to do...

Please, if someone can help me with this simple problem...I know that I'm only a 3D Designer but I want, I NEED to know more...

Thank you.
Bye

After you put your objects in the mission, did you re-light the mission? (Ie - it's in the menu in the editor.)

Yes, I've relighted using the "Alt-L" and the mod's now cast shadows on other mod's (box to box), but again, no shadows on the ground...I think I've got to look somewere in the files of the editor but I feel that's a heavy job for me...
Thank you

I've seen something strange...
My mod's dont't casts shadows in my terrain, but using them in RealmWars, they work correctly casting some beautiful shadows on the grass...
I don't know why...Someone knows in which file there is the difference? whithout shadows my mod's seems like they're flying...

Thank you again

Maybe you've got some kind of amibent light setting on the terrain way up. Does the terrain cast shadows?

DTS do not throw shadows, only dif.

try with a standard light.

Luca, not sure if you're still interested, but you can get dts's to cast shadows. Melv May posted some engine changes in the following post that should do it for you.
