During development - thought of question - programmer art or programmed graphics?

by Sean Brady · in General Discussion · 02/29/2012 (11:07 am) · 4 replies

Hello, for a programmer working on a portfolio would it better to have placeholder art then to finished art or graphics programmed by hand?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not clear on what you are asking. Are you going to be putting procedural artwork in your portfolio? If so, it should be in its own section highlighting that you have the ability to create procedural artwork.

That was what I was asking, cheers David. Also I didn't realise that level of specialisation/separation would be necessary. Glad I asked so. Thanks again.

It really depends on what you're applying for. If you are applying for a company that does something like procedural generation of landscapes from GIS data, then it is a good fit. If you are applying for a 2D artist gig, traditional art skills are going to be a better fit.

Cool enough. Thanks for clearing up the issue. :)
