Think Tanks Mania

by -Z- · in ThinkTanks · 09/17/2003 (1:16 pm) · 82 replies

Just thought I'd announce the launch of another Think Tanks site, I still have loads of screenshots to sort through and add as well as more detailed information on the maps.

If I've missed anyone else's TT site from my links section, please let me know.

Think Tanks Mania

Also.. for those who were interested in PositionGrabber, thats now finished and available.

Now back to finishing off CTF.... nah.. maybe a quick game first.

Heh yeah good point 56k. I had it as "CTRL M" before but changed it last minute cos I didnt have a clue what that would do to a mac.

Will adjust the readme :)

I read the readme. It had nothing on how you launch a dedicated server...
Quote:When in-game on a map press M to Activate and De-activate the script
It says nothing with the word "server" in it until you get towards the bottom
Quote:...If you add "-log 1" to the end of your shrotcut to launch the server, then this output window will be saved to a text file called "console.txt" within your thinktanks folder...
I have already asked you to elaborate on the "-log 1" thing...

Whoops! Okay, read that, can't understand it. What in the world is it talking about?

Zaz: It has been done.
Think Tanks Mania: Downloads

Drew: If you don't understans any of that, then you certainly won't understand editing maps. Stop right here. Go no further. Do no pass go. Do not collect $200.

But I am stubborn! You shall not thwart me that easily! If I want to pass go, I shall find a way to pass go!

God damit. Here I'll tell you: If your on a PC, go to your start menu. Go to programs. Go to thinktanks. Go to "launch dedicated server". browse to the one you want. Right click it. Choose properties.
Add - log1 to the end of TARGET.
Fire it up. Go to the TT lobby. Enter your server. Press m, or whatever key you changed it to (if you did), and begin placing.
Then copy all the object blocks in the "console" file to your .mis file.

There. Happy Now?

I realize I'm becoming quite a nuisance, but I'd really like to do this thing. I go into the thinktanks folder. I do not see "launch dedicated server", but I do see dedicated, so I click on that one. I am confronted by a plethera of ms-dos batch files. Am I in the right place? If so, which one do I choose? -B, -s, -tb, or -ts?

Look in the start menu for the shortcuts to launch the dedicated server - not in the game folder.

You can also access these shortcuts via My Computer, but look under "Documents and Settings" > "username" > "Start Menu" (unless you are running something like win98 in which case I cant remember where they are off hand.

It isn't there. The only things I found was a link to buy the game, the shortcut to the game itself and the uninstaller. I have windows XP if that helps. It said something in the readme about a command line. I found out how to use those, but the instructions for starting a dedicated server didn't work.

Nice site! Sorry to say, I'm an inverse fair weather fan of TT (when the weathers bad and I'm not on campus plugging away at my degree I sneek in a few cherished moments of TT).

I got the maps downloaded and they work great! Thanks for all the work you put into this.

Drew: Well if you haven't bought the game, you won't be able to do it.

I have. I do not have any idea why the link is there.

Am I doing this right? I go to start/run/cmd I type in (since c:\documents and settings\Drew Tomes> already there) program files\shockwave.com\thinktanks\thinktanks.exe\ -dedicated -mission game\data\missions\TT1_1.mis -game B -log 1 Even if I am, the command line doesn't like it...
