gif to png noob question

by John Colgrove · in Artist Corner · 10/03/2011 (1:47 am) · 2 replies

My artwork is in gif format and, as far as I know, T2D doesn't support that. Is there any quick way to convert gif to png? What I'm doing is taking each layer from the the gif file and saving each individual layer as a separate png file. Is there a quicker way to do this? I'm using gimp btw.

I take it that you have an animated GIF since GIF's do not support layers. However, many software packages user the package's layer system to support frame animations for GIF's.

Something like this should help.

There is a program that does it perfectly and is very easy to use, its called ReaConverter. This program will also create the transparent background for you. You can use it for free and the cheap version is like 24 dollars. That's probably all you will need to work with Torque products. Its always good to create yourself a good toolkit when you do production work. Converters are kind of like a hammer for your tool kit and you know every toy maker needs a hammer ;)

Here's the link: www.reaconverter.com/download.html

hope that helps, and if you do get it tell him Vickie Eagle sent you :D

Always~
