Dear T2D, Please Give me Lightmaps for Christmas!

I saw these images on the Spelunky 2 blog. It's a 2D game but they use 3D tricks such as normal maps and lighting. Now I must have.

Seems like a great idea to use the OpenGL abilities even in 2D.

Um yeah I want this too! I'm pretty sure I read something about TorqueX having this ability.. which I think is written on the TGB engine. If this is true, and the source is available to the devs it should be something they could give us? It seems that the torque guys are forgetting about tgb in favor of t3d.

The only simliarity TX and T2D share is the editor interface. They're two completely different engines written on different frameworks. We're not forgetting about T2D, we're about to begin work on a 1.7.6 update.

1.7.6 is going to be purely bugfixes and some improvements ported from iT2D, no new features.

There are tons of great tiny features worth being added, but I prefer to see old bugs fixed first.

@Scott, thank you for clearing up my understanding of torqueX, and development on t2d.
