T3D 1.1 Pro noob designer help

Well hello everyone, I have just opened my own game development company called Grr Moo Games, ran across the engine and could not pass it up, however I thought it would be a bit more user friendly and less coder oriantated. I worked with the free UDK from the UT 2004 game, but could not afford all the extra things to make my games reality, I am curently going to IADT Online to get my BA in Game Development. I lost alot of my old games from fied computers and no backup copys =(
I have a new computer, Torque3D 1.1 Pro, Constructor, Blender, Game Maker 8.1 pro, UDK3, Student version of Maya2012 and Mudbox, could even get 3ds Max if i wanted to [but I've never used it so I got Maya] will be getting GIMP sometime soon, but on to the reason I am posting.
I have a ton of ideas for games that I would like to make and Torque seems to be able to handle many differant styles, what all do I need to make my games in T3d 1.1 Pro? All the video's I have seen are all outdated and the endstep is confusing to how it would apply to my version because 'that button' is non existant. I made a simple house in Constructor and have no clue how to get it ingame. Any help would be great because as it stands now T3d seems above my head =/

I'd advise you not to use Constructor - it's for outdated BSP based geometry. Better to use mesh models exported from a 3D modeling app. Read the T3D manual - there's an artist's section.

What I recommend most though is before you start designing come up with a game plan. A design doc can go a long way. I'm just now learning this when I've tried and failed at completing at least 3-4 games. My current project is showing more hope with something to follow. And it's helped my designs with modeling quite a bit. Besides, it's always good to have a place to start.
Once you have all that planned out, open the engine up and browse tutorials and resources along with the examples that come with torque. I'll be honest, that's where what little I know came from along with a few of the newer resources. Any questions just ask on the forums.
And I'm sure you'll find some people to work with as the game design field has a lot of fans. Just figure out what it is you want to contribute to the team.
Best of luck to ya Vander!
EDITED FOR SIDE NOTE: Oh, and by the gods have a way to save your progress with your projects! I've lost so much not backing things up!

It can be a pain to figure everything out. But I would advise against Constructor for the same reason Steve mentioned. I myself use 3ds Max, but from what I've seen Maya can be very good at creating models. Not sure what the difference is between the student versions and professional. But yeah 3D modeling has not been my strong point but still new to it so practice makes perfect [or decent at least] But code just flys right over my head.
Just going to take things slowly and work on one asset at a time, mainly key design phase, and playing with the edditor to get aquainted with it. But yeah read, read, read for the last week lol =)

Awsome info guys thanks alot! And yeah from what I know about the student version is I cant make anything from it and go comercial with it.. so untill I get the $3500 to get 3DSMax or MAYA for my own company it will just be 'test' models. But yeah 3D modeling has not been my strong point but still new to it so practice makes perfect [or decent at least] But code just flys right over my head.

You've got Blender - use it! ;) It's a great piece of software. Some say the interface takes getting used to, but if you're not experienced with any other 3D packages then that can be said about all of them!

[$3,500 USD] on top of that I am curently inrolled to get a BA in Game Development and class starts up soon agian.
I have two games in development atm that play like the old school Wolf3D.
The first will be from RGM, then game two will be on GM8.1Pro. After that I will be fully working with Torque and UDK for my next set of games. [I work only on my high priority projects but dabble on other later projects when I have the spare time or something new pops in my head]
