Character Modelling

I'm not really sure if this is the place for it, and apologies if it is. Me and a friend have just graduated from University doing computer game development. We used Torque as the game engine of choice in University and both bought our own license so we can develop our own games.

We have just started a 3D top down camera view game, and moving the character via mouse control. I was curious if anyone knew of any places that had good tutorials in regards to learning how to character model, as we are both novices in the character modelling department. We would be using 3D Studio max as our package.

If anyone has any advice in regards to making 3D top down camera view games in torque aswell, any advice about problems we may encounter would be hugely appreciated aswell.

Thanks

CGTalk.com has excellent resources on a broad number of topics in the field of computer graphics. 3DTotal, 3D Chat also good choices

Well, at least they used to be, been a while since I've been.

Eat3d.com is another one.
Digitaltutors.com has the best stuff I think, subscription-only though and it's not cheap.
