Best Players

I thought I'd start a fun thread. For best players I'll nominate Dan M just because he was such a GOD when I first bought this game. I don't even know if he still plays or how he'd stack up now that there are a lot of experienced players. For someone who is just fun to game with I will say Azazel.
I'll let #1 Tankster nominate himself ;*)

And they're usually driving heavy tanks and go largely unnoticed until lights start bouncing them around in the goal like they were rubberballs. Otherwise, one of my main tactics is to drop in behind teammates carrying the scrum and use my slow moving heavy to force chasers to take a turn or three -- if they don't plow into me outright.

Individual scoring is not all that in Team Scrum. I too would like to include the category of the "Defender" or "The Assist". Like what -z- said. You know, the folks who block or screen out the opponent to make a hole for a teammate to score. Or tails a scrum toting teammate to take some of the flak. This, in my opinion, is crucial to a teams success. That's what makes a team game more pleasurable than the chaos of regular scrum. Scoring is fun but teamwork is a awesome. Unfortunately the assist is not really accountable as far as ranking goes, like it is in basketball.
Too bad I can't seem to get my lame ass to a league game to show my skills in this category.

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TT there has only been one player who has boggled my performance a player whom I may not speak his name. One man standing alone in his triumph. Thrusting upon me a terrible sting of defeat. That player is reading this now and has no clue who he is nor the agony he has imposed on himself and his opponents, His skills from were I learned mine. Not only is he my enemy but teacher as well. He will soon feel the wrath of conviction and when he does then and only then will I reveal his identity. My fellow students beware for I speak only truth and truth is in the eye of the beholder...
To fail is to learn to learn is to excel

The master finally will get the word in and NO! I am not going to nominate myself. I have been honored to be your teacher/mentor for these few months. There have been few students with the same hard work and dedication that you have shown. Mal [Bot] gets a tear of pride every time he sees your perfectly good tank drive off the cliff with the scrum. Well played, well played.

I know these players; they've been around for a few months (like me!). I love to have 2-3 of them on my team (vs 2-3 vets on the other team). Make for fun games, 5x5 (3 vets and 2 newbies vs same). Played hardest scrum yesterday, with like 8 top players and 2 good nbs. Had to work hard to score! (thank God for freebies!)
Everyone who regularly played this insane game for a few months will get good. Here is the ontology of a ThinkTanker:
Larvae Stage: Realizing it is meat, it will stagger around in battlemode. You can shoot them up from behind, they won't even notice. Best target for easy score. Totally useless in scrum. Usually seen wandering around aimlessly, shooting short random burst, or trying to intercept the ball but being painfully late. If they're not frustrated, they will advance to the second stage. Note: Some of them can get fairly good after a while.
Nymph Stage: After having bought the game, and played the Light Tank, the neophyte realize he's no match for the seasoned vets. Will try to goal (thinking himself smart), as in sitting IN the goal; then will move to sneak-camping, i.e. not chasing the ball and lurking passively until scrum comes by. Realizing this technique is rewarded with few points and the dislike of the general population, our tanker will embark on a new journey. Will slowly master the physics of the game and will decipher the maps, starting to differentiate each ones' characteristics.
Adult Stage: The slow process of mastering the brakes (the hardest thing!), the cartwheels of death, the sneak interceptions (Jangy Swipe, anyone?), the friendly passes; to learn the 'zig-zag-zoug' in order to shake off the pursuing enemy; to perceive the flow of team battle and to fill its role (i.e. to switch between offensive and defensive), to master shooting (as in you quickly kill your prey), and finally to intimately know the maps - rocks, shortcuts, power-ups - arrows - and jumping pads locations. Total mastery of the aforementioned skills are constantly upgraded with practice and repeated frustration (as in 'WTF I was IN the goal!' or 'lucky bastard, you stole from me 1/100 second b4 I scored!', etc.)
Note: Another mystical phenomenon is known as 'The Zone' (or 'Da Zone'), whence a player suddenly becomes endowed with supernatural luck, i.e. goal spawn, tweaked physics favoring him; 'sticky-scrum' not bulging regardless of impacts, and perfect albeit lucky timing. 'The Zone' is known to last for a game or more, and can affect any tanker having reached the adult stage.

I could nominate about 40 players, but won't write them down here for fear of forgetting some. besides, you know who you are. I wish I could flatter you all, but I'd rather give you the best challenge i can on the field.I know these players; they've been around for a few months (like me!).
