play a avi file

For the likes of me I cannot figure out how to play an .avi file
I'm using TGE 1.4.2 and the GUIaviCTl control.
I am also using the PLAYGui.gui file to do this!

So which of the fields do I use to load my avi file in.

Other than Verve, (yeah, I do not have the money now to purchase additional software) is there any other, better method of playing movie files.

On another note, besides .avi, can TGE play MPEG files, or other video file formats!

Honestly, you want to convert your video to .ogg format. There are a number of apps that do that. After you do that there are a number of posts that cover the topic of making it run.

Theora goodies is what you need.

That control was sketchy at best and only supported under Windows. As I recall, it was last really used in 1.2 and the decision to move to Theora was made in the 1.3 timeframe. But it has been *years* since I have thought about the control so my history is most likely off.
