Blender 2.57 and Torque3D -- anyone using it?

Hello
I'm fairly mew to T3D (bought the T3D 99$ special offers some weeks ago). I'm pretty decent at modeling however I never actually exported any model. Is there a way I could use the latest 2.57 to export to T3D or do I need to use an older version?
Also ... how do I export it? I tried looking for a tutorial but they were all for Blender 2.49.
Can't I use 2.57?

If your serious about a modeler either save your money if you have any and buy Silo3d and messiah and maybe 3d coat if you can. Thats your cheapest paid option. Unless you like the paid version of blender (Lightwave)?
But if you really want user friendly software then buy cinema 4d the broadcast edition. Use that with messiah and there will be no need to buy the full edition of c4d!!!
Failing that stick with Silo3d, Messiah and 3d coat!

I will never buy Maya or Max or Softimage they are owned by Darth Vader and his money hungry stormtroopers!!! So your shit outta luck.If your serious about a modeler either save your money if you have any and buy Silo3d and messiah and maybe 3d coat if you can. Thats your cheapest paid option. Which software is most friendly in regards to Torque3D exporting?
#6
Why would you want export out of Torque?
Otherwise use silo3d to export obj files of your model then import the obj into messiah for animation then export out as fbx. then import the fbx to ulimate unwrap then export it out as a collada or dts file then import to torque.
As i said good luck with exporting your models out of your 3d modeler of choice and then import into torque. There will be issues but maybe the monkeys might help you if they have time.

if you followed the c4d pipeline then use ultimate unwrap to import c4d files then export the file either as a collada export or dts export. Then import these files into torque 3d. Hopefully cross fingers it works for all your animated models. Why would you want export out of Torque?

Cinema 4d and silo3d for modeling is the most friendly. For Animating look at messiah and c4d.

First and only warning/advice: Stop referring to people as animals (particularly monkeys), greedy bastards and failures. A little anxiety and frustration we can deal with. We are happy to try and help. Name calling crosses the line of tolerance.

Well ... I don't have the cash to burn right now since I just got pureLight ... I am stuck to blender for now. I hope someone uses the latest version to export to torque 3d.

Speaking of coding ... any official workflow/support for Blender? Not anyone can obtain a license for commercial use with those big name software :)

I can't talk time lines or details, but it is something we are diving into.

@Alkor - I am talking to our new artists about that now. While he has 3DS Max, he was working with Blender last week. He managed to export COLLADA shapes that utilized the PhysX system built into T3D. This is a great step forward, since it does not require any PhysX plug-ins.I can't talk time lines or details, but it is something we are diving into.

I believe Blender has Collada export. I know that there used to be a plugin, but I thought that they moved it into the native support base. I am not sure about the status of the Blender DTS exporter and the current build of Blender, though.

2.57 is the first announced stable version of the 2.5 series of Blender. Meaning, it might still have some bugs. But don't worry, it will definitely work, since collada is one of the most wanted plug-ins in Blender.
The development announcement states further stabilization and the next version 2.58 will arrive soon. That's the one where I will test the collada exporter again.
There is no dts exporter for the 2.5 series yet. Since the plugin architecture of Blender has changed, most of the old plugins are not compatible anymore.

You are suggesting to go back to 2.49?

2.5 will work in the near future. I predict within 2-3 months from now, tops.
How does the material problem look like? No materials at all or something else wrong?

Not really. But if it's urgent at the moment, then 2.49 will work for now.2.5 will work in the near future. I predict within 2-3 months from now, tops.

I use the book Torque for Teens, followed the tutorial there (adapted it from 3dsmax to blender), export crate as a .dae but materials are always empty.

I tested it, it works with 2.57. Did you uv unwrap you model and create a material?

Ok, I'm back (within 10 min minus downtime of GG Website from from Europe)I tested it, it works with 2.57. Did you uv unwrap you model and create a material?

I did not UV Unwrapped it, I chose Projection - Cube and used 4 textures, 3 bumpmaps and one difuse and one specular.
