TrueSpace?

Just wondering if anyone is using TrueSpace 7 with the torque 3d engine?

It exports collada so it should theoretically work but I was just wondering if anyone else had tried it yet.

I'm a bit fed up with blender export issues and I'm looking at trying a different modelling package.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I've used it, though not with anything too complex lately. The COLLADA export seems to work fine, and since the app is free, you're not losing anything by trying it out, though it's very different than other 3D apps in its workflow (and stability).

Thanks for the quick reply!

Last night I downloaded and tried it with one of their stock characters. The mesh and animation both exported properly except there were no materials.

But the animations work beautifully. Now if only I can get the textures to stick...

I'm also looking at Daz Studio which also seems to have a Collada export. Hopefully this one works.

The textures didn't work? I'm actually surprised that the animations exported (I'm going to have to try that now!), but I've never had issues with textures. Did you check the COLLADA file to see if it's looking for the texture in a directory other than the one where you have the file?

I guess I was wrong about the textures. I think it was exclusively using shaders. There are no image tags at all in the xml. At least none that I can find. Its just <image> right?

Anyway, I just grabbed one of the characters from the default library and exported with animations checked (Collada) and then imported into the Torque Demo.

I was pretty impressed with how many animation frames exported and all seemed to work. I think it was somewhere around 3,000 frames and maybe 20 separate sequences.
