Graphics issues with Torque 2D -

The issue I am having is slightly difficult to describe, so please, bear with me:
I recently purchased and installed the Torque 2D engine on my laptop (I will give specs in a moment). After the installation and first use everything seemed to be working fine, but when I attempted to create a new Empty project all of the GUIs graphics shifted 'up', leaving a black bar on the bottom of the screen. To imagine what it looks like and its size, think of it as if the bottom of the browser had a line 5/6 the height of the close button ([x]) at the top right of your browsers window and everything that would normally be in that space has been shifted up (thereby cutting off whatever would be at the top of the browser window - specifically the Camera Tool, Selection Tool, Play Scene, etc buttons).
I could deal with this as is, but the mouse cursor recognizes the graphics as if they are in their correct positions which makes clicking precise locations, resizing images, and general targeting more aggrivating than it really needs to be.
Has anyone run into or heard of this happening before? Does anyone know of a recommended fix?
I have already uninstalled/reinstalled a couple times with the same results, though I have not attempted to install this on my desktop just yet (as I am in a hospital and do not plan on returning home for a few days).
As promised, my system specs (nothing fancy here):
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i5 2.27GHz
RAM: 4 GB
Video: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Disk: 500 GB, 7200x
... I think that is all that may really be relivent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1] I downloaded the latest version of the Torque 2D engine: TGB 1.7.5 Pro
2] All drives on my laptop are supposedly all up-to-date
3] I am not exactly sure how to post a screenshot on these forums...

If you turn off Aero in Windows the problem disappears. Greetings

1. Which version of Torque 2D did you download?
2. Are your drivers fully up to date?
3. To be safe, can you post a screenshot so we can make sure it's the same bug I'm thinking of?
