Need Gui Help!

by Xyno76 · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 03/17/2011 (9:14 am) · 7 replies

Okay, I think this is in the right topic this time. (My mind hasn't been the best lately...)
So, I want to create a simple player select screen, and when I mean that, I want an extra option in the options menu (I can do that) and make it when you click on it, it opens up another menu with a bitmap gui and buttons to choose your dts character, like its a button, not a pop-up menu, and I don't know how to make the buttons select the dts, and I want to know how it can replace the current one your playing as in-game... as well as when you click on the character button, it would show a certain picture to tell who you are playing as...

Can anyone please help? Thanks...

According to your profile, you don't own any Torque products.

Oh, well, I am using the orange block as my base... (http://theorangeblock.org) and I was wanting a new character select screen, for my own version to release... sorry if I would start any trouble, if I should leave, just give the signal!

Xyno76 ... Luckily for you GarageGames dropped the price of the engine down to $99. You can have a legal version of the engine for cheap... and best of all you will get the new T3D, not the crappy old TGE 1.5.

You should just purchase it and then people would be more than happy to help you.

yea, thats a good idea, but first I'd need to scrap up $99 :P, since i'm still in high school, and where i am, its hard to get money. just asking, how much longer will torque be on sale?

oh, and it seems like my laptop doesn't handle the torque 3D demo well, is there something i can do about it? cuz my little game test thing has lower resolution models...

They haven't said how much longer it will be on sale.

You can work off the demo until you have the funds to buy it.

You could build your game to run with lower specs. then it would run well on your machine.

ok! but would it be too late to ask how to make a button change a "character" to another one In-game? cuz i have the whole gui done made from scratch, and i have a button added on the options menu to click to get to the character select screen, but now i'm stuck...

EDIT: and not to be too needy, I also put a player name update in the gui, but after you set the name, and talk for it says your name and dies, its still the old one you set when you started a missison, can i have help on that too please?

Unless i'm missing something somewhere you dont actually need a licence to work on somebody elses project with the older engines, only to access the source.

Also, buying T3D no longer gives you a license for TGE or TGEA, so telling somebody to buy T3D so they can legally work on a TGE project is somewhat redundant.

You should direct your questions to the orangeblock forums really, its very difficult to answer questions about custom projects
